China Accused Of Contaminating F-35 Fighter Software
The allegedly infected software had to be rewritten from scratch.

In the past, Lewis has referred to this incident as a rumor explaining part of the high cost of the F-35. The attack does not appear to be related to the 2017 incident, when attackers infiltrated the US Air Force’s computer network and stole material relating to the F-35, including several gigabytes of data related to the design and electronic systems of the fighter.
Earlier this year, the US Administration of Operational Test and Evaluation (DOTE) released a report that, among other things, criticized the software development process for the F-35.
